Dickinson P9000 Newport Propane Heater by George Date Added: Wednesday 01 July, 2009
Dickinson P9000 Newport Propane Heater Initially I thought I would install the wood burning Dickerson unit but then switched to the propane unit. The propane unit is of excellent quality and looks great...I have a Willard 8 Ton cutter which does not have a propane locker. Consequently, I had to have a custom rail mount tank attachment made. In addition, I had to install a propane monitoring kit which cost about $300. In retrospect, I wish I had gone with the wood burner. Here in the South the need for a lot of heat is limited to perhaps January. The cost differential is considerable between the two units from Dickinson plus, the extras that accompany the installation of the propane unit could be better spent on a variety of useful items from Binnacle. I have a practically new Origo alcohol stove and oven which is great and since I am primarily a coastal sailor, probably a better choice for my purposes, would have been the wood burner. If one already has a propane system installed you cannot beat the Dickinson unit...
