CS Johnson 38-203 Split Backstay Car with Sheave & Becket for 3/16 Wire

The adjusting car replaces separate wire blocks and a connecting member or triangle.

The tandem sheaves running on the wire eliminate severe flexing of the backstay.

A neat, thoroughly functional fitting.

The 38-203 has Delrin sheaves and is intended for boats under 30' with a maximum 3/16” diameter backstay wire.

This is a Type 2 design (see below), and a downhaul adjuster can use the becket and sheave to create a 3:1 purchase, eliminating the need for an upper block.

Example: If the backstay's bases are separated by 5' of width, the car height should not exceed 7-1/2' to 8' in height off the deck.
