IMO Guidelines on Ship Recycling Consolidated Edition 2006 I685E
The life cycle for most ships is 20-25 years from "makers to breakers", and the withdrawal of older ships is a natural commercial process. These guidelines have been developed to give guidance to all stakeholders in the ship recycling process.
The present publication contains the consolidated text of the IMO Guidelines on ship recycling adopted by Assembly Resolution A.962(23), as amended by Assembly Resolution A.980(24), while also referring to the existence and relevance of the guidelines on the same subject by International Labour Organization and by the Basel Convention. |
