Servo 11 Under Bracket Cleat 3-7 mm Line

Servo Cleats are a specialized cleat manufactured in Germany by SPRING Bootstechnik. The Servo Cleat is the first cleat whose jaws only open when the sheet is pressed vertically.

The lower bail bracket ensures that the sheet runs straight into the cleat. This is important when the direction of the pull of the sheet can change or when the sheet runs towards the cleat from above to prevent unintentional loosening under load.

  • Approximate rope diameter: 4 - 7 mm
  • Length: 47 mm
  • Base width: 22.5 mm
  • Centers: 27 mm
  • Material DELRIN, black with stainless steel inserts and stainless steel base.
  • Screw fasteners included
The rope diameter range serves as an orientation. In the case of hard rope, the range shifts downward, with soft rope climbing upwards.

Two advantages characterize the Servo.

Above the clamping surfaces is a V-shaped gap, the toothing of which runs spirally both outwards and towards the tip. This shape allows vertical pressure through the sheet to be transformed into rotational movement of the jaws.

The advantage
After you have trimmed the sail, you can immediately lay the sheet in this position. Most other clamps require 1 to 2 cm of pull to move the jaws. Sitting on the high side when the wind is fresh, you will appreciate this advantage.

The teeth of the jaws hold the pull of the sheet.
The geometry of the tooth tips plays a decisive role here. Sharp-edged teeth hold higher loads than more rounded ones. On the other hand, round teeth protect the cordage better than sharp ones. At the same time, the tooth tips are subjected to extreme loads in gusts or when a sheet rushes through. The teeth of the Servo are therefore reinforced with stainless steel inserts.

The advantage
The tooth geometry remains constant.
If a sheet slips due to overloading, the cleat does not have to be replaced because the teeth are worn out. At the same time, however, the jaws only have the low weight of the plastic.
